Default Not your average Cam Question

I have a 1985 Mustang GT, it's an automatic CFI system. I'm going to convert it to a carburated system. My question is that although it came with an electric fuel pump would the car have a lobed cam?

All cams have lobes........if you mean the mechanical fuel pump actuator, that is an additional eccentric activator that is installed in front of the timing gear. The disc on the LH shown below.

So I'd just need a manual fuel pump actuator then? and the swap would work fine?

You could also use the in-tank fuel pump with a return-style AFPR (Holley, Mallory, etc) and not worry about a mechanical fuel pump. My '86 was converted to carb 15 yrs. ago, and it still has the in-tank electric pump.

Might as well keep the electric and use the pressure regulator with the return. Be cheaper, and prolly a lot easier
