what happened
hey guys i just installed the trickflow topend kit about 4000 miles ago. i measured the clearence and adjusted the valves it was running great until one day i was crusing on the highway, my car made some noises and then it died. i got it towed home and i pulled the heads off. i had 6 bent intake valves. so i though i jumped time so i pulled the front cover and the timing was fine. so what could have happened?

What kind of noise? What do your valves look like? If a p/rod goes up as a valve goes up, one is bound to lose. Sounds like timing to me. You line up the marks on the t/gears or just look them over? What about the gear on the dizzy and cam?

RE: what happened
Over revving can cause the valves to float even if they are made for the lift of your cam. Maybe you missed a gear but that doesn't make sense getting cruising on the highway. Might want to check make sure the dow on the camshaft didn't break or something.

what about putting it into the wrong gear like say second instead of forth maybe you mechanically over revved the motor?

RE: what happened
Your sig. says a .510 lift cam. Is that the lift for the intake or exhaust side? Trick Flow recommends their stage one cam with stock pistons... .499 lift - 221 duration on the intake side and .510 lift - 225 duration on the exhaust side. If your cam is more than that oryou used too long of a push rod or 1.7 rockers then you did it yourself by not doing your homework. Or like mentioned above, you may have floated your valves. If you have stock pistons for your year, then they are flat tops with valve reliefs... BUT, the reliefs are in the wrong place for the T/F heads and do no good. That is why they reommend the stage one cam. I suspect that your cam is too big.

the timing marks line up and gears look fine, the cam came with the trick flow kit along with all the valve train, the valve**** the piston about a half inch above the valve reliefs, i will try to get a picture, but like i said i was just crusing down the highway i was in fifth and didnt miss any shifts
