i have a cracked stock manifold and it sounds like crap. im almost embarassed to drive with it now...lol. i was going to buy some shorties from my friend who's boring/stroking his 302 and was gonna run full length's. but he dosent wanan get rid of the headers yet and i need some. so what is a good brand with a good price? i was looking at either the summit or bbk brand. i really want the bbk's but summits are almost half the price. anyone had any experiance with the two types? and i dont know what brand my friends are so i couldnt tell you. i do know they were chrome and now they turned purple/blue in some places and it looks awesome. any suggestions?

I bought a set of summit brand shorty headers for $99 brand new. I love them. They're not the greatest but they are good upgrade from stock and they get the job done. Can't beat the price either.

yeah thats what i was thinking about. either the summit's for 99 or the bbk's for like 189. i didnt know if the summits didnt bolt on good or something.

im not saying shorties are bad or anything but what is so GOOD about them, i'll i see them as is nothing more than a stock manifold

Larger diameter than the stockers and they're not crimped and restrictive like the stockers. Much better airflow.

done get the chrome bbk's! i got a pair. they change color and they get F!@#$*^ hot! the whole engine bay gets scorching hot. i would get some good ceramics or something. im going to get some wrap for mine to help w/ the heat.

if you had sprayed the inside of the header with ceramic coating before you installed, they wouldn't change color or get that hot, and they would flow better.

I had Macs, and they were GARBAGE!!

I went with BBK ceramic unequal shorites....they cost a bit more, but worth it. I wish I would have did it right the first time around
