Hey I have an 89 mustang lx 5.0 was looking at the gauges from a 90 mustang 5.0 that go up to 140 mph.Mine only go to 85 mph,I was wondering If I bought the ones from the 90 mustang of they would be the same connection.Like would it be a direct plugin?

Some 89's had 140 speedos, GT's maybe? Mine is an 89' GT and it sports the 140.

yes I believe the 89 gt came stock with the 140 mph,but I think for some of the 89 year for the lx the gauges only went up to 85 mph.Which I have.

i got a 91 lx that has the 140 speedo. car hasn't been touched ever and no speedo fraud or speedo change over so i believe it came with that speedo from the factory.

For the 1989 model year, they decided to switch to the 140 speedos, but they also dediced that the manufactoring plants should use up the remaining in-stock 85mph speedos. I believe the date they ran out was mid-April of 89.

If you have a 89 with an 85speedo, chances are it was built before April 89.

A 1990 gauge cluster will not just bolt in. You need to find one from an 89.

87-89 and 90-93 guage clusters are different, so if upgrading make sure yiou get the right ones, the 87-89 has green back and 90-93 has red or yellow I can't remember

Early 1989 5.0 mustangs came with the 85 mph speedo and no 25th anniversary dash emblems. For the
most part cars made after April '89 came with both.
