u can adjust out 1 tooth off. More than likely timing. Does it do it only when u rev it? if so advance the timing and see if it still does it. It could be a misadjusted valve or a dead cylinder.

normally one tooth off just makes the car run like crap, not backfire..is this SD or MAF? might have somethin to do with that.....and what do you mean you dont have roller rockers?

I had the same problem....loose rocker.

In other words...the exhaust valve would not open.....therefore it would backfire out the top

.....and WHOA, that was aHORRIBLE sound [:@]

Ya it's called a dead cylinder. If it sounds like the timing is on then it could be a misadjusted valve.

Check your fuel pressure, rockers and pushrods.

Fuel Pressure? It could be internal timing but sounds like ignition to me

Ok heres the deal the car is back firing thru the intake i got a stock block gt40x303 aluminum heads gt40 tubular intake msd ignition wires and distrubtor b cam supercharged with 9 psi of boost 255 fuel pump 30lbs injectors alright no matter what ive done the car is backfiring thru the intake ive changed the distrubtor went back 2 the stock ignition set the timing like thrity times changed the module just about everything u can think of and no matter what ive done the car is still backfiring so i was wondering if anybody had any suggestions
I have noticed you did not mention the appropiate MAF to run the 30lb injectors?

From what is occuring, if you are running the appropiate MAF, your valves are misadjusted.

You have a radical setup, take your time, and id have my timing at 6-8 degrees max .

A tune withing 6 months.

The old school method has always worked for me.ONE CYL AT A TIME. Turning the crank with a socket and 1/2 inch torque wrench.

When the intake valve begins to move, adjust the exhaust valve, by twisting its pushrod and tightening its adjusting nut unitl slight drag resistance is felt.STOP

Put a white out mark and turn the nut another 1/2 -3/4 of a turn.

When the exhaust valve is almost closed, do the same for the intake valve's pushrod.

Using a breaker bar takes to long. Using the multiple cylinder method, has failed a few times.
