Default 5.0 H.O in Cougar?

There is a guy near me parting out a 1993 Cougar. The intake plate has 5.0 H.O on it. Can I use the cam and other parts to convert my 1995 truck 5.0 EFI to and H.O. motor? I was going to use the cam, wiring harness and ECU and the accessory brackets. An auto ecu will work won't it? Same power as a 5 speed? I can wait to get a 5 speed ecu, but I can get a better deal on this one. Thanks,
Bobby

I was always under the impression that a 5 speed ecu had to be used with a 5 speed and an auto ecu for an auto? The 93 GT 5.0 was engine code E, so was the 93 cougar. The 95 truck was E also i think. So using the 93 cougar to upgrade the truck is a waste of money already being an HO. If im right.

just go with the cougar 5.0 there is a better chance of it being less abused than a truck. as for the computers, I dont know... not a good wiring/ECU guy. but if the cougar 5.0 is in good shape, just buy the whole motor. its the same as a mustang 5.0, you may just need a fox pan (if going into a fox...)

I already have the truck engine. Is it a 5.0 H.O.? It says EFI on the intake.

'93 Cougar HR cam = Cobra cam (w/out the 1.7 ratio rockers)
The electronics on the '93 Cougars are similar to the ones in SN95 Mustangs....

just get the whole engine like stated above. for all the effort you will go through to swap parts you might as well either do the entire engine or swap in performance parts.
