heh, I remember when 104 - 107 was everyday pump gas hell regular was 91andit was the recomended minimum for my old 69 Mustang with a 250 inline 6 ahh the days of leaded fuels!

yeah I bumped the timing a couple degrees and got no detonation. runs great, feels great, sounds great lol. I still got four gallons left lol.

its all in your head. high octane when not needed will actually cause the motor to run poorer. the slow burning fuel makes less power.

Actually he might gain a couple hp with racing fuel. He has e7's with a very inefficent combustion chamber. He might be able to run a couple more degrees of timing and make some power with out detonation or pinging. Obviosly you would have to use a dyno or go to the track to find out if that extra timing is helping or hurting you though. Also if its leaded race fuel it will destroy your cats and o2 sensors.

If the heads are inefficient, how would octane help? Octane actually reduced the ability of gasolene to burn. The reason race cars use it, is because they have much higher combustion temps. With a low octane, and high compression, boost, nitrous, etc, the fuel has a tendancy to burn before the spark plug ignites it, causing detonation. Thats very damaging to an engine. Octane makes the fuel more difficult to burn, so in those situations, the gasolene only burns when the spark plug ignites it.

Octane doesnt make power.

i put 6 gallons in my car mixed with 93 octane.it was torco at 111 octane.my car was tuned so no o2 sensors or cats to worry about. it smelled good but i noticed no difference in performance.it was only a dollar difference in price so i figured id try it. will not use it again until the s.c. is installed.
