oil pressure gauge question
i bought an an autometer electric oil pressure guage i want to install on my 5.0 my question is its kinda tight down there and a friend of mine saidi needan extention. it looks like there is a factory extention on the block right now. i bought a piece of copper tubing and the appropriate fittings to make an extention that long but the one on it now angles the unit up. do i need to get an angle too? just kinda confused about mounting the sending unit. any pictures or other ideas woule be nice. thanks, chuck

RE: oil pressure gauge question
I have the same gauge. I removed the stock extender from the timing case cover and used the adapters that came with the gage kit. All is well. As far as I can see there is no need for the exender. However, if you have a mechanical fuel pump you may need to use it to get past the pump. I used a EFI timing case cover (no mechanical fuel pump to worry about) and a Holly electric fuel pump. I suspect Ford uses the extender to get their sending unit past the block.

RE: oil pressure gauge question
alright im kinda more confused now. im pretty sure my sending unit is on the drivers side of the block near the oil filter not near the timing cover. maybe im just retarded. but it loks as though if we are talking about the same location that if i screw the sending unit into where the stock extender goes into the block it would hit the oil filter. do you have a pic grandsac?
