dancing TACHOMETER
what does it mean when you are driving at around 2k rpm and then once you pass like 3k it starts violently bouncing up and down? does that mean its a ignition coil going bad? 89 vert 347

RE: dancing TACHOMETER
well i didnt want a nasty looking monster tach on my dash, i'm trying to keep a stealth appearance and nothing says hey race me than a big *** tach. eventually I would like to upgrade to some autometer gauges from florida50 but its expensive as *****, right now the stock tach that I have will have to do, so any ideas?

RE: dancing TACHOMETER
Quite a few years ago (90s i think) i seen a custom dash cluster that used aftermarket black face gauges in the stock locations and using the stock dash parts. Looked really good. Wish i could remember where i saw it. Way too many magazines to go thru.
That would look stealthy. Probably lots of work tho.

I run stock tach, they're fine unless you're red lining your car on a regular basis.
Tach jumping .................
If you have an MSD box it could be doing it.
or your pick-up in the dizzy could be going out.

I know I am bringing this one back from awhile ago but I am having the same problem. I also have the msd 6al, stock dizzy with a msd cap/rotor. I have an after market tach as well as the stock one still working. When I drive however both of them jump all over and the car jerks terribly. I've checked all the grounds but they all seem fine. Where should i go from there?
