Default got my c4 done check it out

finished the trans for my 89 5.0 coversion car its going to be sweet..
this is a 1967 c4 with alto red clutches steels, kevlar bands, c-servo harden input, transgo 47-2 shift kit 2500 stall..
time to start on the motor now..

is that a chrome trans pan? if so I would dump it for a nice aluminum pan to keep it cooler..looks good

yep thats a chrome cheap-o off ebay this was my first automatic rebuild. ive done a **** load of manuals and i would have to say.
the auto was much easyer! but i havent drove it yet ether...lol
so the one your talkin about keeps it cooler in the pan?? why is chrome bad??

chrome holds heat, aluminum dissipates it faster..also if you didn't ruff up the area where the gasket goes they are prone to leak

ya i ruffed it up and used a rubber gasket but sweet i will look into a alum pan.. thanx for the info

a make sure you use one big *** trans cooler for longer life..what was done to the valvebody?

did you paint the tranny and bellhousing? i have a t-5 i am putting in and i definately wouldn't mind it looking cool like that. any tips on how you did it

Good that you put in a hardened input shaft. The next 2 parts to go under high HP are the planetary gear and forward drum. Not sure what HP you plan to put into it but I broke my C4 4 times before I found all the weak parts. For the planetary you can get one with 6 gears instead of the 3. For the forward drum, I stripped out the teeth and then found you can get a hardened forward drum. Now my C4 has been holding ~ 600 RWHP for 18 months now.

well the bell in these transmision can be removed just like the t-5 all i did was i tape off what ever i didnt want black on the trans fliped it upside (input shaft faceing down on bell) and painted it first. then i just painted the bell last i used gloss black hi heat, and hi heat engine aluminum. thats about it..
