Default Darn ARP Bolts cost me a Flywheel!

I needed to do a rear main and clutch on my 5.0 so decided to pick up some ARP bolts from Summit Racing for my Flywheel and Pressure Plate. The flywheel bolts were OK but the PP bolts which per the Summit site should work on my car (ARP-250-2201) totally screwed me up! First they bottomed out because the threads don't go all the way to the top of the head of the bolt, so had to take them out and figured oh well I'll just use the stock bolts...GREAT, the ARP bolts must also have had the wrong threads too!!! My Flywheel is now stripped out. So the $30 I spent to have the flywheel cut is lost, the $10 for the ARP bolts is lost and over $100 for a new stock replacement flywheel!!!!! I now hate ARP and Summit Racing it not too high up on my list either [:@]

you should have felt them cross threading or something... it must not have been that easy to thread them in.

Ok, first of all, the ARP bolts didn't cost you a flywheel. YOU cost you a flywheel (but that probably isn't the case). You can rethread the holes. I had to do that on my flywheel. If you cross threaded the bolts, then you missed a REALLY important step. Thread them in by hand first to check them. If you just threw a wrench on them, then that is a big no no. Always thread by hand first to make sure. You either got a bolt with the wrong pitch on it, or you cross threaded. Just buy a tap and rethread the holes.

[sm=chairshot.gif]self inflicted take this as a lesson learned possibly a metric / standard thread mismatch.
