Default MAF & Injector question

So here's the deal, my MAF is no good so I need to get another. My goal within the next 2 years is to do an HCI upgrade and possibly stroke it. At that time I'll have to get new injectors and a new MAF anyway. My question is, if I were to run either 24 or 30 # injectors on the stock motor until I rebuild it, will that cause a problem? Or should I just suck it up and buy a new MAF calibrated to my stock injectors and then buy another MAF when I do the upgrade? The last option I have is to just throw the stock MAF back on and call it a day.

youll be fine running 24's for a while but you will run rich at wot. 30# are overkill even if you do a h/c/i

Thanks man, good to know. I haven't even really looked into all the ins and outs of it so I figured it would be one of those two injectors.

just put the stock maf back in and forget about it... a maf is minimal cost when doing a stroker and/or h/c/i

buy a stock sn-95 70mm maf and when you do your h/c/i upgrade, have a tuner burn a chip for you that reprograms the computer for the 24# injectors

you get a tune, better maf, and larger injectors and spend less than if you buy some expensive pro-M maf or garbage C&L

Good call Adder. I was planning to get it tuned once I did the HCI anyway. I guess for now I can rock the stock MAF or see if I can pick up a cheap used one. Thanks for the input fellas.

My car is basically stock running 24# injectors and still not converted to Mass Air, I get horrible gas mileage, it doesn't idle right, and it spits and sputters when I really get on it. I was hoping converting to Mass Air would fix this problem but I guess from what I'm seeing on here,it will still run a little rich.

If it's tuned properly then it's not going to run rich. Many people just slap on injectors then slap on a calibrated MAF and call it a day. Sure, it will work, but it's far from ideal and you may have issues at certain points along the MAF curve.

So make the coversion and get it tuned. You'll have no problems.

Well I just ordered all the parts to convert over to mass air including an A9L computer. With my setup, would it be a good idea to get a computer tune? Where or How would I go about doing this?

When to get the tune depends on how many more changes you are going to make to the car. Unless you buy something to tune it yourself ($350 - $1,000 or so) then it can get expensive to constantly get a tune everytime something changes. In that situation, make sure you take care of all your major mods first, ten get the chip burned.
