ahh! no forged pistons
well i found the phone number for the guy a bought the engine from to ask him if he could find any info he had on the cam and what type of forged pistons he put in. hes in michigan sounds like a hillbilly lol.
he still cant find any paper work about the cam, but he realized he left the pistons stock.. not forged!! well thats just great now i have to go out and spend more money.
anywho.....what is a good brand of pistons to get i heard of JE pistons and was wondering how there are. i want them to be dishedfor nitrous setups

RE: ahh! no forged pistons
I'm running 10 PSI of boost and a 100 shot of nitrous on hyper pistons. It's all in the tune. Get it tuned right and you'll have nothing worry about. Get a bad tune or run lean and you'll shatter them.

RE: ahh! no forged pistons
i'd rather be safe and get forged pistons because i plan to start with a 150 shot of NX. so would JE pistons be a good move? http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku

RE: ahh! no forged pistons
may be able to get some speed pro / federal mogul forged slugs for cheaper than the JE's. they JE's will probably be lighter, but federal mogul doesnt produce garbage (im not saying JE does btw - they are excellent pistons)

RE: ahh! no forged pistons
I have the diamond racing pistons. They have a website, all pistons are forged and pricey. They are supposed to be some of the best. And samseed, i saw in that first post of yours you brought back to life that you only average, what, about 500 miles a year. Hell yea, your pistons should last another 20 years.lol

This was taken from the Mustang Registry:
The CR dropped slightly to 9.0:1 due to dished forged pistons. Also, at some point in 1987, an air silencer was added to the intake tract just before the air filter, reducing engine output by about 5 to 7 horsepower. Cars with the 4-speed automatic transmission and 5.0L engines were fitted with quieter mufflers than the 5-speed versions. This is the reason for the 5 horsepower drop in engine output. Both the manual and automatic transmission for the 5.0L now came with the 2.73:1 rear axle ratio. Suspension improvements, inspired by the SVO, featured a new crossmember, alignment changes and increased wheel travel. The rear brake drums remained the same, but front rotor diameter increased to 10.84".
