I've read some other posts, and went out today and looked for some Methyl Hydrate at hardware and paint stores but no one has it. I adjusted the timing from 11 down to about 4 or so, and I need some other tips on passing emissions without cats. I have full exhaust; headers, x pipe w/o cats, and magnaflows.

I'm sure someone has had the same problem, what did you do? I might try that "guaranteed to pass" crap at autozone, but would like to hear some other comments.

I think that Guaranteed to pass crap is Methyl Hydrate, or at least has some in it. Although, I can't imagine them selling that for the reason of cheating emissions...

I called up a camping store that has Denatured alcohol which is used for thinning shellac, and in camping stoves, which are the same uses as methyl hydrate, so maybe I'll use some of that, anyone else.

In the past I've used denatured alcohol after dropping down the timing.I can't remember how much we put in but would always work like a charm.Also I've seen cars fail emissions before and the oil got changed and the car passed no problem.

Denatured alcohol it is, any guesses on how much to use, I think 500ml in a half tank would be tops, or at least thats what I read about methyl hydrate.

methanol...... i wouldnt lower ur timing that far if i were you

Losen the exhaust clamps so that more o2 gets into the exhaust. You will basically "water down" your emissions with regular air. Just make sure enough emissons are comming out the pipes or you will fail for a leaky exhaust

Yeah Ive thought of that one too. Although I have high flow cats, so its not a problem, heh.

its safe to say that there is now way in hell my car would ever pass emissions. i got waved by getting one of my dad's friends to write a recept saying that we spent more than 300 bucks to get it to pass. in ohio thats the best way to cheat it unless you actually have to spent it.

go to the hardware store they sell 2 sizes big and small use the small one. your only supposed to retard your timing a little, thet seems a bit much you just want it to run a bit hot, but not too much they look for that, try the small bottle of denatured alcohol and some premium gas, also it would help out gretaly if you had a good set of 02 sensors, sometimes they make all the difference.
