looking into a rare? 79 indy pace car.
 

if this is indeed a 79 indy pace car, how can i run the vin to be sure that it is. the guy told me the vin runs for the 79 indy pace car, but how would i confirm this?

according to this there are 3 at #3, and 2106 at #71. how do i find the vin numbers for the cars on this site?

and i was told this car is an automatic orrignally but converted to manual. so i need to make sure its rare and indeed real indy pace car before i make any offers. thanks all

your gonna need to get the vin off the car itself and run it. plus there are ways to tell an indy is real. check the buck tag on the core support, check the door tag, does it have the correct suspension (should be a 7.5 TRX suspension, but get the vin off the car when you see it, run it and also look for the buck tag.. should say Pace car If I remember correctly.... '78 king cobras have buck tags that have "king cobra" stamped on them...

i am not to sure yet, the guy was out of town when i called him. So he didnt want to talok much. He said it has been restored in 1993, all original except, "Big Tube headers" he doesnt know what size. they are shorties, it has a pro5.0 shifter. it has an 88 gt rear end and i think he said 88 ground effects andi dont know why he would do that but w/e. it has 3.55 gear and has been converted to manual, using a short geared t-5 (i think from the turbo coupe??). the odometer only goes to 99,999 miles so i dont know what exactly is on it. but i iwll be looking into it this week sometime, and i will try and capture so pictures for you guys.

Considering thats its been modified its value as a Pace Car has been reduced so dont get ripped off buying it because he says its rare.
It would be worth alot more restored to stock.

+1 PJB. Why would anybody put ground effects on an original 79Pace Car? Sounds like the car has been messed with way too much, be careful!

yes i just deicded to not check this car out. i just thought the same "why would anyone do these things". but i am now looking into a 85 lx coupe.
