Serpentine Belt Too Tight??????

Serpentine Belt Too Tight??????
My serpentine belt squeeks a little bit when cold, then once the engine warms up it seems to go away...
Do the belts stretch a little when they get warm?
Am I loosing power if the belt is too tight?

I should add I deleted the AC...am running a 93 Cobra water pump pulley and the stock tensioner.....there is barely any room between the belt under the tensioner and the water pump...

Not really gonna lose power, the accessories would spin with the same resistance if the belt was perfect (no slip). Pretty hard to get one on there "too" tight anyway, though. I think there's some junk that you can put on the belt to keep it from squealing, is it an old belt?
And I think that squeak is really more of a whine, perhaps coming from that odd piece of plumbing that has attached itself to the passenger side of your motor

If the belt is too long or worn enough. The tensioner can bottom out and offer not additional tension. Then the belt will be essentially too loose and may squeal. Worse scenario would be a loaded accessory and the engine ramping up in rpms.

it squeaks when you first start it up because the belt is old. the belt is slipping which is the noise you hear. after a few seconds of slipping the belt gets hot and a little sticky it then grabs the pulley it was slipping on causing the sound to go away
