Carb guys, need some input!

I have a 302 out of a 93 and im going to put it in my notch. Im looking to switch over and make it carbed. What do you guys suggest for a lower intake and carb.
What makes one intake/carb combo better than another? Im new to carbed stuff so if you could shed some light on some carbs and intakes that would be awesome.
Also, where did you guys buy from?
thanks

I've always been told to use the Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake for good results and I'd probably stay around 600 cfm for a carb. MAYBE 650 but that might be too much for your car. I've got a 359W in mine with an old school Offenhauser intake with a Holley 750 carb. I'm no expert on carbs and intakes, but the Victor JR. is the one I hear about the most. I'm getting ready to stick a Victor Jr. on my 359W pretty soon.

What would you recommend then? As I stated before, I am no expert by any means. Just repeating what I've heard to work for some people.

Victor jr. is nice, but the powerband is like 3200-7200. A lil high for a stock 302. I personally like the Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap. Its a raised plenum intake thats fairly cheap. Perfect for street/strip. As, for carb., go with a 600 if your just keeping it stock. 650 with a h/c/i change.

if it fits in the same powerband you could gain alot of HP

victor jr on a stock 302 that'll be like pulling a turd up a mountain!!!! you need the cam with a power band to accomadate that intake I had a fairly radical 302 with 11 to 1 compression and a 282hr comp roller cam 565/574 lift with a range of 2500 to 6600 I switched from a rpm air gap to the victor jr thinking it would help man was I wrong it lost it's ace in the bottom end and went like balls to the wall from 4000 to 6600 when the cam wouldn't give any more!! make a long story short it was slower in the 1/4 mile 2 tenths and 3 mph switched back and got my power back!!! a rpm air gap should work okay even a performer 289 might be a better choice for a stock 302 h.o as I have a 92 this way and it works great!! stick with a 600 cfm but if you like throttle response go with a 650 double pumper but you'll have to jet it way down and fuel milage won't be the best!![:-]

What i wanted to do was just go ahead and get some kind of intake and carb just to get it running. Then later on i want to put diff heads and cam, ect . So what could i get that would be ok now and still be ok when i do the rest of my stuff?
