3g conversion bracketry work

ok i got tomorrow off, so i wanna do the 3g conversion...

first off, does anyone have a better detailed/pictured explanation of the process, besides what I can currently find? I wanna make sure I do this right the first time, and the tech link on here isn't the greatest.

secondly, if you used a dremel on the alt bracket, which bit did you use?

Matt, I took my cut off wheel and made cuts in the bracket about a 1/4" apart and then took a screw driver and broke out the lil pieces. Very easy to do and works out great. If you mock up the new alt, you'll be able to see where exactly it will hit and make your marks.

i suppose I could go to work tomorrow and grab my die grinder. do you suggest a straight or 90degree ?

did you use a brand new cutoff wheel, 3", or an older one that is smaller?

LOL I really don't remember how warn out the wheel was but you can use a new one. I didn't use a die grinder at all. After the alt is in place, you can't see the "handy" work. ;)

No, just the cut off wheel.

RE: 3g conversion bracketry work

The oe plug, cut the 2 black orange wires, put those together and mount on the power feed of the new alt. the small one left, you need the plug from a 3g, splice it on the white green or w/e color that one is and plug it into the new alt. The regulator harness is the same and plugs right in. then you can run the 6 gauge wire w/ the 150 amp in line fuse from the bat side of the soleniod to the power feed on the back of the alt.

It is, very easy job to do. I've done like 3 or 4, last one only took about 30 min. Far from rocket science. G/L!
