RE: 400m in fox body?
I don't like Clevelands too much unless they have good heads(which they don't, contrary to popular wive's tales). Here's why...a stock 2V Cleveland head will outflow stock iron GT40 heads to the tune of about 20cfm on both intake and exhaust, but the port on the Cleveland head is WAY bigger, which means lower port velocity, andmost likely, lower power, at least in a streetable rpm range. There are companies like CHI Heads that make new heads for Cleveland/Windsor engines(they are Cleveland style heads, but much like modern Windsor heads AFR, TFS etc are better than factory heads). Clevelands are harder to find parts for and unless you're either getting something like CHI heads, can build the whole thing for dirt cheap or want something that turns seriousrpm, you'd honestly be better off going with a 408 stroker with some nice aluminum heads. And here's a neat fact, AFR 165's will outflow even 4V Cleveland heads up to .600lift, and after .600 lift the AFR 165's still outflow Clevelands on the exhaust side as much as the Clevelands outflow the AFR's on the intake side. That means a 408W with AFR 165's will make more power than a 400M with 4V heads, only it'll be WAY more streetable....and since 165's are way too small for a 408, put AFR 185's(or equivilant head, I'm just using this as an example) on it and make WAY more power than you can with the stock Cleveland heads and have it WAY more streetable, with WAY better throttle response. Unless you get a GOOD aftermarket Cleveland head, you're just wasting money building a Cleveland for the street. They're unique yeah, but they suck for performance these days. They were good back in the day when no one had a better cylinder head than that, but now even the small aftermarket heads for street 302's substantially outperform even 4V Cleveland heads. So unless you put the money into something like CHI "3V" 185 heads, you might as well nuild a 351/408. I'm not trying to be a jerk or hate on Clevelands, just being honest. Clevelands have a mystique about them and everyone seems to go "Oooooohhh, a Cleveland, those are powerful!!" when in actuality, their days as a performance engine are long since gone

http://www.chiheads.com/ These guys make totally awsome Cleveland heads

if you can get a plate AND headers for 100 bucks i would ****** up on that offer quickly. but im pretty sure 351C swap mounts are available.
yes, you can get manual valvebodies for a C6 trans - as stated already they are THE ford automatic to have. they are built like tanks and will handle plenty of abuse in their stock forms (and yes, its a big block bolt pattern)
and 67, i believe you are using 302 logic here - a 400 cubic inch motor is going to support (hell, its going to WANT) larger ports. a 2bbl C (or M) head is most definately not too large for a motor this size. your talking about a 408 stroker with some AFR heads, he's talking about getting a motor for a couple hundred bucks thats gonna walk all over a normal 5.0
theres a big difference in where he is headed and where you are headed with all this.

im pretty sure there are 351C swap headers available for the foxes, those should work just fine.
edelbrock #2171 is a performer 4bbl intake, idle-5500...... cant find a performer RPM which would be better.
weiand #8010 is a action +plus intake, idle-6000...... this is definately the intake to go with.
add that cam i offered you for free, and a decent 4bbl carb. like i said before a 650 would be excellent. plenty of oomph with out being too damn big.

Heddman Hussler headers FTW!! Im using those. Im putting a 351c in my fax next year. Gathering parts right now.

good to hear more people are thinking out of the box.
hell, im not going with a C or a big block right now - but i could have already had my motor back together if i wanted another 302. i held out, and will be assembling my 289 shortly.
think different
