Actual EGT or "Turbine Inlet Temp" is pretty good info on turbo applications
It's a good indication of running rich or lean and exceeding allowable turbine temps.

I adjust the A/F ratio in my airplane with nothing but a fancy EGT gauge that monitors each individual
cylinders EGT and cylinder head temps, even allows me to run lean of peak for super
fuel efficency and cooler operating temps, but little less power.

EGT is important just like it is on diesels lets you know if you are going to melt down your engine,, haha, but nice to know how hot you are running for sure

id say if u have somthing thats modified 2 pretty important gauges to choose from are water temp and oil pressure, the factory ones dont do much for ya
