why spend 500 of a set of use gt-40 heads or even 275-300 for 'p" heads and still won't flow with a nice used aluminium 1.90 head........I use a gt-40 heads on my S/C because I was trying something.....I used under cut sodium valves with a 5 angle valve job and 40 hours of porting to see what I could get....I even extrude honed the water passage to keep them even cooler....the set is f ucking awsum but would be very high $$$$ to have them done as I did them myself....it is cost effective to buy the aluminum heads for wt advantage, cooler head to put donation at bay,and they flow better

i suggested the p's because he only wants 300hp, i would also agree that a good aftermarket head will be better but its easier to spend $300 for a set of reman heads than $1300 for some good aftermarkets. he would easliy make 30-40 more hp with good heads.
