rising temp
 

when im driving my temp goes up slowly. over like 30 mins it went from 160 to 200 and i have a 160 thermastat.
i have a built motor with a stock radiator and aftermarket elec fan.

its the stat replace it with a 180* or 190* stat

I had that problem try going with that new radiator that cost about $500.00 called a hydronie radiator

how new is the thermostat?? feel the upper and lower hoses when warm to make sure coolant flow is happening also check / have your radiator cap pressur tested to make sure it's operating correctly. if your car has always worked with a stock radiator I would't think it's that unless there is a blockage in it. to test that you can drain coolant and look at the passages through the neck and check for calcium build up then run a hose through it blasting water through it a check how quickly water drains out cover the bottom port fill with water then remove your hand water should rush out quickly also make sure the spring is in the lower radiator hose and not collapsing.

this has been happening since i got my new motor but the heat dosent help.

if it's a stock radiator and you have alot of mods I'd get a larger cooling capacity radiator like 4 core or aluminum radiator. A moded engine that produces more power = more work done=more heat produced and if you had your block bored depending how far you speed up heat transfer through the cylinder walls to the coolant surrounding them= hotter coolant My 85 is moded to the max for a strret car and have a small 3 core in it now = to large two core and it has a hard time keeping temp at 190 with a 180 stat in short I need a larger radiator and finally this one has started to leak so I'll be gettin' a new aluminum one soon. An aluminum has the ability to remove/ allow heat transfer to disapete/ occur faster so I'd get an aluminum one. They cost alot but what costs more another motor or new radiator??

a fresh engine will create more heat than before it is freshened. The fresh engine has a lot more friction at the ring/cylinder surface.

It is possible your electric fan is not pulling enough air for the heat load. Do you have a showd on the fan? Does it cover the entire radiator surface?

WELL THERE ARE MANY CHOICES: ford racing sells the least expensive one for right under 300.00 it's a large 2 core aluminum one but there are better choices but price goes up summit racing has alot to choose from you should be able to get a decent one for under 500.00 an all aluminum one is best the ford racing one has plastic tanks on the side.
