weird noise?
i have a ticking sound under the hood of my car.i have a 93 mustang lx. it has a 302 in it. the sound is directly connected with the rpm. the more rpm, the more ticking. i have been having issues with the roller lifters that have been turning sideways and screwing up cams. i have been setting my valves correctly. i was just wondering if the noise could be lifters, or if the noise was a bearing? im clueless.
thanks for your help

RE: weird noise?
ROLLER LIFTERS turning sideways??? did you install the H pieces that lock/retain the lifters in the correct position and place the retainer with the 2 bolts back in the lifter valley. Never heard of that happening

RE: weird noise?
i bought a short block off of a person with low miles on it. he claimed it was off of a 90 mustang. the casting number on the block didnt match up with any ford part numbers. i believe this short block is a lot older then a 90. could it be possible that that my 5.0 is not designed for a roller cam and lifters? i have bought ford lifters, and there were not h pieces included in the kit. im new to the mustang scene, and as you can tell i really dont know whats right and whats wrong.

oh man !!!!! hope you don't have roller lifters in a block not meant for one and vice versa with the cam!!!![:@] if you have a roller cam in it and the block is not machined for roller lifters/ the retainer plate . you'll need to purchase retro fit lifters that have locking bars on them to keep lifters srtaight. retro lifters are expensive!! at this point you may have screwed another cam!!!
