Default fan blowing fuses

I just installed an electric fan out of a 3.8 taurus. I wired it into a realy with a toggle switch. The relay came with a 25 amp fuse, but it keeps blowing them. I tried a 30 amp fuse, that seemed to work for a little bit and it eventually blew that one. What size fuse do i need for this fan?

you need to find out what the amperage draw of that fan is all data if you have access to such or a friend who does may have the spec listed. or if the fan is used the internal resistance may be excessive creating a higher than normal amperage draw this only applies if the spec is below what fuses you are blowing. also make sure none of the wires you pulled to wire up the sysyem are making contact with one another.

the taurus fan spikes at around 80 amps on startup, get a 80 amp relay

Im going to try a 40 amp fuse and see what happens. My 98 Taurus has a big amp fuse in it, but it also has dual fans.

hey did ya' a favor on break I looked up on all data here at work all the taurus models by year and checked diagrams..... 80 ampsounded a little high if memory served me right?? The taurus uses a 60 amp maxi-fuse for any and all cooling fans in the 90's models if that is where you sourced your fan from

I would concur, according to my good ol' Hanes manual.
