well i think my tranny has had it...its been whinning for a few months now and today i had to take down some cocky a$$hole in an audi. i think it put my tranny over the edge cause now it whines even louder and it makes a noise like gears knocking against eachother...is this something i can fix with a rebuild kit or am i way to far gone for that?....FYI it was an audi1.8t

best thing to do is stop driving it right now, before it destroys the case and all it'll be good for is a door stop.

it could be as cheap as the bearings....baby it til you can fix it

well i cant just stop driving it...its my daily driver...this will be the third car in a row where the tranny has gone out on me...a silverado and a grand prix before this one

get a professional to look at it fast! Like was said it could possibly be a bearing. Good luck

dont know if this helps any but i did just notice that starting in first its really loud and gets quieter as you go through the gears until u hit 4th then its completly quiet as if nothings wrong with it and then in 5th it starts again

I think it sound like the input bearings are bad

I had that problem in one of my trans and it was the input bearing. Mine was fairly new so i just replaced that and slammed it back together. Not a tough fix. If it's more tho, good luck. You have a good day ahead of you (if you haven't done it before)
