Carb Questions
I've got a bogging in 1st gear and 2nd when getting on the throttle, feels as if the gas is cutting off then spitting back in.
I'm pretty sure it's the carb, when I messed with the floats, seemed to get sort of better.
Does anyone know the stock settings on a holley 750?
Here's a pic

RE: Carb Questions
Is that choke blade opening up when the key is on? Other than that, it could be due to not enough fuel from the accelertor pump (s). You try bigger squiters or different pump cams. Also did you mess with timing at all?

RE: Carb Questions
Gary H - It's actually not overkill, it's a 306 motor, but the carb works perfectly fine.. When I had it dyno'd it was at perfect mixture and air ratio.
JD1969 - No, I haven't messed with the timing.

RE: Carb Questions
Sounds like not enough accelerator pump shot.
With the engine off. Look down the primary throttle bores. Hold the choke plate open.
Move the throttle from idle to wide open. There should be 2 solid streams of fuel discharging from the nozzle.
Even the slightest movement off idle to even 20 deg of blade opening, should squirt fuel.

PS: You can tell me and gary that we're wrong, but hey its your car bogging not mine.

You have no idea how wrong you are. The bores of the 750 carb are too big. The air movement throug it is insufficient at low rpm's. Thats why its bogging out. AT MOST you should be running a 650.

RE: Carb Questions
Perfect A/F ratio just means that the jetting is right for the air going through the carb. Anyway, make sure the primary and secondary acc pumps are working. Had any backfires through the carb? How do the plugs look? Double check the timing too.

RE: Carb Questions
First, that 750 is WAY too big, even if you get it to run alright, you're robbing yourself of power everywhere, not to mention throttle response and mileage. Just cuz it runs with a 750 doesn't mean it runs best with a 750.Second, if it's a new problem look for things that are stuck, accelerator pump arm sticking and things like that, or a possible clog. The fuel filter could be clogged, there could be trash in the accelerator pump circuit somewhere disrupting the flow of fuel. There could also be damage to something, float etc. And yeah, check your fuel pressure, make sure the fuel pump is putting out the propper pressure.
