if you're just adding the electric fan and don't have a hugh stereo amp or anything, you don't really need to upgrade the alternator.

I got the Volvo fan Mustang8719 gave me, I don't really need something so powerful, I don't have a huge stereo system, I listen to Country, no need for all the bass or whatever, lol. Anyway, I wouldn't mind paying the $114 for the Powermaster 100amp, that's 25amps more than stock, I think that's more than enough to drive an electric fan witout draining my battery, hehe, what do you guys think? Know where else I can get one cheap? The yard close to me SUCKS, I'd rather not try going there again...

Oh, I know the modification to the mount needed when you put in a 3G alternator, but does it change the position of the pulley? Meaning you need to get a different size belt? Or would the same size belt still work?

RE: Alternator options
Well, I've decided I might want to just get the 100amp one, that's 25 amps over stock, do you think that will be enough? I don't have a whole lot of electrical things, just a new fan and the msd ignition might need a little more too, but that's it, no big stereo system or anything.

RE: Alternator options
i had that problem once,I had a 75 amp alt that just didn't seem to want to keep up,
and well when i joined here i found that i can use an alt from a newer stang so i checked into prices,
and wow what a heart attack i had when i found out the prices.
anyways i found that most of the alts for thoses model years mostly 94 and up,
from most ford cars, trucks or vans with bigger engines, and power options were vertualy the same some had 90,100,120,and higher i got mine off a 97 conversion van,
I pulled it off myself and only paid 35 bucks. after giving the bracket a little hair cut it fits perfect ,need to run a heavy gauge wire to starter solinoid
bolt ,lock washer for the top and haven't had a problem since.

You should be fine.I've got a 130amp I believe and I have 3amps,cooling fan,Neons,A/C and driving I have no problems till I come to an Idle. When stopped at a light with all things going and brakes and blinkers I drop to about 11 Volts. In the future im going to go bigger myself.

RE: Alternator options
You should be alright with the 100amp but maybe someday you'll do some more mods or even get a sound system...who knows...and then you might wish you had a bigger alternator.
You're still going to need a larger power wire and maybe some bracket mods with the 100amp unit so why not just get a 130 or 140amp unit and you'll be all set for possible future mods.
No need to buy two alternators...right? Buy the larger one now and be done with it.
