Default Alternator options

Anyone can point me in the right direction in getting a new, better, alternator that won't cost me an arm and a leg? I am going to install an electric fan in my car this monday, my only day off, and there's a chance that I will be needing a new alternator, so I better get started looking now. I'll take a look at Jegs and Summit, but if you guys know of a good place to get one for a good price, please share!

Hm, do they have a lower model like around 120amp or so for less? Also, is it a direct replacement or is there any modification needed?

I know for some alternators you need to eat away a little from a bracket in order for it to fit, how are the powermaster in terms of that?

Also, how would they compare to the PA Performance one?

Hm, I can get a powermaster 100amp alternator for about $114 plus handling, would that be enough? I don't have a whole lot of mods, just going to be electric fan and msd ignition without the 6a box...

if you're just adding the electric fan and don't have a hugh stereo amp or anything, you don't really need to upgrade the alternator.

i disagree, the 5.0 did not role off the assembly line with an electric fan, therefore the factory alternator
only met what was optioned on the car i.e.,power windows, seats, mirrors, ect.
my dads car had every option and when we put on an electric fan the damn windows wouldn't role down!
i hooked his up just like i did mine, and thats with a seperate relay for the fan.
a 65 amp alt. is weak,just think ign. uses 25amps by it's self,so when you add headlights,basic radio,electric fan,and the other items
that utilizes some form of power.you will run into other problems..so get a good one don't cut corners
you will hate yourself later.for get a cheapy!

Not sure on the amp ratings, but i believe the 94-95's came with a better alternator, because they came factory with an electric fan. You could probably find one in a junkyard that still works fine, and it should fit right in. Dont know if that will be enough of an increase though.
