hey bud, i know exactly where you are at! i was once in the same freakin boat! but mine is running now, mostly thanks to this forum
anyways, i had the same problem with my rings. i had a 4.030 bore and the rings that came with the kit were 4.035, needless to say i broke a ring or two trying to get them in. my teacher loaned me his ring tool and boy was that thing great. i looked like pliers and had two little hook like things on it, one on each side. then you had diff. size compressors for diff. rings/pistons, ya match it up, stick the tool's nubs in the holes on the compression band and put her in the hole. if ya get the tool, use one hand to grip the tool and keep it tight, i took a 2x4 and cut it a tad so it would fit and tied a rag on the end, and used it to push the piston down. use lots and lots of oil. run the car for 15-20 min, get it hot then shut her off. change the oil and filter and then change at 100-150 miles then at 300-500 and then at 1000 then 1500 then 3000. pm me if ya need any help.
