Personally id run a full synthetic, costs more but its worth it imo. But im not sure if you'd want to just throw sull synthetic in it if it has been drained like that. And I think its something like, you can switch from regualar to synthetic but not the other way around.

At any rate, right now I'm convinced that Valvoline Maxlife is great oil...and I prefer dino to synth, if it's changed regularly.

Castrol syntec 5w50. And in a 302 the best way to prime the motor, pull out the distributor. Get a 1/4" drive bit for a drill, a long 1/4" extension and I believe its a 8mm 6 point socket. Put it on the oil pump drive shaft. spin it in reverse at full tilt, usually 2500 rpms with most 18V cordless drills. Do that for 20 seconds or so, put the disty back in and fire her up.

break in a motor on diesel oil than change it after 30 mins at 2500of break in. it has more metals ingredints that diesel engines need. newer engines requirer less of that than older engines. i know it sounds weird maybe stupid but i took a engine machineing class at cypress colege and he said to use diesel on a new engine for break in. i used diesel to break inmy351 cleveland for my 71 mach 1 and have had no problems.

Asking what oil is the best is kind of like asking what body style Mustang is the best because 5 people will tell you 5 different answers, but if the engine is already broken in any full synthetic oil should do it nicely.
