Default need help with my 88 5.0

i was wondering if anyone could tell me how i will know if my cat converters are going bad? right now the car is mostly stock with big tube bbk headers, and the headers are getting alot more hotter where they dump into the cat converters, then where the bolt to the cylinder head, also i took it on a 200 mile drive and it got so hot inside the car it was almost unbearable, the padding has been removed from under the carpet, but i wouldnt think the padding would keep it from getting that hot! the engine temps where normal, but it seemed to be exhaust heat, has anyone ever had this problem,
also how can i tell if my balljoints are bad? i had to replace the front wheel bearing already, and sometimes when you come to a complete stop something will pop in the front end, and the car will pull to the right going down the road,, please help me if you can
thanks

Cats may be clogged or getting close to it. Whats your fuel pressure set to?

If the balljoints have never been replaced then replace them since theyre almost 20 years old. Mine are starting to pop. Its faint but you can hear it when the wheels are turned and i come to a stop. Get an alignment with the new balljoints.

Check both wheel bearings to. Make sure they arent loose. Jack the car up on stands and spin the tire. Shouldnt hear much if anything.

Do you feel any shaking while driving?

thanks for the reply,i am thinking the cats could be clogging up, i am planning on installing a off road h-pipe this weekend, so i will see if it helps it, as far as the fuel pressure goes, i havent checked it with a gauge, but it has a stock regulator on it, also the car doesnt shake going down the road, but it pulls to the right, not a constant pull, but if the wheel is turned slightly to the right, it just keeps pulling to the right, thanks for any help you can give me,
