First Ever Track Times...Thoughts

RE: First Ever Track Times...Thoughts
Thanks guys.
Car has 91,000 on it. Not bad for 16 years of use. I have only driven it 11,000 in the past 2 1/2 years.
Roundy, you're right. I just couldn't resist the NOS. After my first couple of passes, I was feeling comfortable enough to use it. And, since I was slipping the clutch off the line anyways, I wasn't under WOT until at least 3k in 1st. So I just switched it on. Broke loose pretty bad when it kicked in. I need some tires and some gears.

Running 3.08s right now.
I probably could have gotten 5-8 runs in, but my confidence got shattered shortly after we go there. The guy who actually convinced me to go run it broke one of his half shafts about 10 foot off the line on his very first run. He had to be pushed off the track and loaded on a trailor. He has a 04 Cobra pushing 450 to the wheels. I know, I don't have half shafts to worry about, but it still wasn't very inspiring to see that.

You need some gears bud. No wonder your clutch didn't like that 2nd gear clutch dump!
Get some gears and you'll run even better.
Not bad though for your first time out.
My handly little calculator says you have just over 300hp at the flywheel which is about 245hp at the wheels(without NOS)
That should be good for mid 13's at around 99-100mph(1/4 mile)
With the proper gears & tires, you can be in the 8.6-8.7 E.T range(no NOS) and mid 12's with NOS...around 107mph or low 8's in the 1/8

Thanks for the calculation. That's just about the numbers I had come up with in my head.
My plans are to get some DRs in the VERY near future. I figure, if I get the gears before the tires, I will just spin my current tires more and probably hurt my times. I really want to go with the Nitto 555Rs because of their good tread life, but they only make a 275 in the 15" rim diameter. That might would give me some mounting issues.
My ultimate gaol is to have a mid to high 7 second (1/8 mile) car that is very dependable on the street. I think with some gears, tires, a few more bolt ons, up the n2o to 125, I should be there. But, that is off in the future. Right now, I would be more than happy with consistent 1.6-1.8 60' times, 8.6-8.7s n/a, and 8.0-8.2s with the juice. Hopefully, the DRs will get me almost there and the 3.73s will get me all the way there.
