Default First Ever Track Times...Thoughts

OK, so I went to the track for the very first time today. Weather was decent, at best. Temps were in the mid 40s and the skies were clear. I was balt to make three runs. Here's a summary. Remember, this is an 1/8 mile track.

Run1 (spun bad off the line)
r/t - .752
60' - 2.187
1/8 - 9.336
MPH - 78.96

Run2 (overall, probably my best run)
r/t - .414
60' - 2.085
1/8 - 9.032
MPH - 79.68

Run3 (75 shot, lots of bog off the line, ultra-low bottle pressure)
r/t - .596
60' - 2.197
1/8 - 8.825
MPH - 84.72

So, what do you think? I personally don't think they are too bad for my first time out. Someone had told me to just clean off the tires since they are street tires. Said to ut it in 2nd, take the revs to 3k, and drop the clutch. Well, lets just say that my clutch didn't like that AT ALL! (I had clutch smoke coming out from under the car[8D]) Definetely won't be doing that anymore!

why was run 2 better?>other than your 60ft.
being your first time i say good job! we can't expect 7.20's the first time out.
so was it a rush or what?

just crank the heat and roll the bottle under the vent on the floor board next time, or get a bottle heater

Reason I say the 2nd run was best is that it was n/a, r/t was lower, 60' was lower as well. Seemed to have my basics down a little better that run than the others.
As far as it being a rush, yeah, it was mighty damn fun. I will definetely be back!

Not bad for first time out, your car will do a lot better when you get some tires, even drag radials make a hell of a diffrence. Keep up the good work and have fun! [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

yeah,i'd say your second run was better.......i know a guy with a mildly modded 93 cobra, and he could only
get 9.0's out of it.

those times aren't bad for your first time out with the car. you might try a burnout using first gear to get the tires spinning then shift quickly into second gear to finish it off but this is hard to do without a line lock to hold the front brakes on while your left foot works the clutch. keep going and practicing and your times will improve as you learn more about how to launch it and when to shift it etc.
I see you couldn't resist using the NOS too! nobody ever listens to me about that!!!
