Drag Radial NT555R Help

Currently running some decent performance tires...

Problem: NO Traction in first 2 gears...

First gear is useless...and second gear really cant get on it either...under 35mph in 2nd if I hit the boost car just smokes the tires...impresses the hell out of people, but does not do much for acceleration...

If I run some Nitto 555R Drag Radials..will that help with my traction in 2nd gear at least? or do they only grip well after you warm them up like slicks....talking for normal street duty.

Nittos are a joke for a drag radial if you have some real power. A car like yours really needs a tire like the M/T dr's or BFG's if you want to get a little more milage. None of the drag radials work well unless they are hot, but they are still tons better than a regular tire.

RE: Drag Radial NT555R Help

ive run both the nt555r and bfgs both are ok but preety useless after getting hot a few good times. they get hard as a rock. im curently running m/t et streets and they are really good and are holding up really well considering i smoke them about 10 to 12 times a weekend and ive had them going on 3 months now. fact of the matter is, its not so much the tire but the surface and power your laying down thats hurting you. its like my car, i can launch at the track at 5200 rpm but on the street if i grab second gear at a 2000 rpm roll in first gear my car will get totally sideways until i let out of it. i would suggest experimenting with quicker shifts through the lower gears and such.

Thanks for the info...my buddy had the Nt555r on his 375 rear wheel Vette and said basically the same thing you did....I appreciate the confirmation...
