Default what could cause this

It will start to cut out when you get the engine above 2500 rpm's. It use to be it would do this only above 4000 rpm's. But now its annoying enough where i would like to fix it. i Have replaced the distributor cap and rotor. Any ideas will be appreciated.

yes. requires taking the dizzy out and disassembling it. those aren't nearly as common as TFI's though.

do you own a digital voltmeter capable of testing ohms?

When does it happen? I mean are you flooring it when it happens? Gently accelerating? Cruising? Could be as simple as some plug wires are just arcing. As they age the problem (missing) gets worse because the wire sheathing gets worse and worse.

it mosly happens when you floor it but it also happens when you accelerate gently. I tested the plug wires and they are good.

This may sound strange, but are you running a catted midpipe? You said it used to do it at 4000 RPM or so, now it does it at 2500. If you have a midpipe with cats on it, check and see if they're clogged. I've seen them so bad tha tit actually prevents a car from starting at all.

If, however, it is an offroad midpipe, then I'll just STFU.

yah.. true.

i've seen a few cases of that throughout the years...
more often than not, the cars will start, but bog down and maybe die when you hit the gas, even parked.

had a crown vic last week that needed a new stock H.
pricey
