Default Throttle response is a bit laggy...

Will a mass air intake or something similiar fix this? I really can't get over 4,000 RPM's even when I floor it. ok maybe 5 but it doesn't get to redline :\

The same problem is going on with my car. I changed plugs, wires, coil, and fuel filter and I still can't figure it out.

My dad and I have only replaced the plugs, wires and starting cap...oh and the brake pads, but that has nothing to do with this.

I'm pretty sure it's the stock intake, but that's just a guess.

Check your lifters and pushrods. I had a similar problem, didn't want to rev. I ended up losing that engine.

It's gotta be the turtle with the honda emblem on it slowing you down.

Have you checked the throttle linkage? Whats happens when you manually hold the throttle open?

I'm not the best at motors...my area of expertise is car stereos....what should I do to check it? (preferably anything that wont cost anything, and wont result or possibly result in damaging the motor)

Also, is this going to damage the motor in anyway? If the only negative effect is being unable to redline, then I'm fine with that, but if it's causing more damage then that I need to fix it.

Maybe your fuel pump is going, the pump may not be able to deliver the needed fuel to the motor when you push past a certain rpm. How is the fuel filter, has it been changed.

you also might have a loose baffle in your fuel tank.....but usually you'll have a different string of issue other than not being able to rev past 4k.

also i've heard about ignition coil going out and having rev issues.....this could also be but again there are a whole different string of problems.

if all your experiancingis not being able to rev past 4k and everything else performs as it should, i suspect valve float.

get new heads
