The facts are the GT40 intake will not flow enough to keep up with a set of GT40 heads (which suck). The TFS TW heads outflow the GT40 intake by .300 lift. At .500 lift, the TFS TW flow 50cfm more than the GT40 intake. In this build, the GT40 intake will always be the restriction. A TFS TW and Track Heat swap would be a night and day difference to what he's got now.
Ok I'll bite .......... and where do these facts come from?

This is my setup and this is what I got out of it.
10:1 Pistons
TFS TW Heads
TFS Stage 1
GT-40 intake
1.7rr's
all supporting mods

I got 290hp and 315 tq at the rear wheels

I also saw a similar intake comparison article in 5.0Mustang mag and came up with the same results essentially, the TFS *STREET* made more peak hp, but by very small amount, less than 5 but hada straighter torque curve which yeilded about 10 more at peak than the TFS one. That's why I made my choice of getting the GT-40, otherwise I would have picked what Full Auto was saying, the TFS Track heat.

the gt40 is obviously going to flow less, thats what gives it better hp and torque on the low end
I nominate this statement for dumbest statement of the year award.

all other considerations aside i think the BBK intake LOOKS the coolest
It does look cool. However, it flows the worst. There have been a few back to back tests. If I recall correctly, the Holley Systemax makes some stupid number, like 30 something HP over the rest of the crap thats on the market.

So if you're going to spend the money, the Holley is the only way to go.

Rule of thumb, you generally want your intake to flow ~30cfm more than your heads for street applications. So even if they were equal, that would mean the intake is too small. The GT40 heads flow in the mid-190s on the intake. The GT40 intake will average in the mid-190s between all the runners also. But the GT40 varies from runner to runner by over 10%. The cool look takes away from the performance. When you match up the intake to the heads, the intake holds it back. With a better intake AND the proper cam, it will gain power EVERYWHERE.

so what cam and intake would you suggest to compliment the twisted wedge heads. also they are the older model tw heads if that makes a difference. this is for an 89 notch 5 speed w/ full exhaust and 373s

I'd put a Holley, RPM2 or maybe a Track Heat if you can get a good deal on a used one. If I was buying new, I'd get the Holley or RPM2 though. I don't recommend cams. I recommend not buying a FMS or TFS cam. I know what not to use. I know who to ask for a good recommendation. And I know I'm not that person.
