Default aod transmission/ motor questions

I am getting my aod rebuilt to handle 500 horsepower and getting a 2500 stall speed converter cuz it is my daily driver but i was also gonna put 3.73 gears in the rear would this be a good combo. My motor is completely stock has 55k on it the trans has 140k and so does the rear and the trans is starting to slip which is why its getting redone but back to the motor i was wondering what would be a good upgrade to do for like around 300 to get some extra ponies out of it. I have had the car 2 months and love it and just want more power. Also what temp thermostat came in these foxbodies. Mine is a 1990 gt

Default RE: aod transmission/ motor questions

2500rpm converter isnt even worth doing. save your money if thats all you plan to do. the aod is a lock up tranny, that means that no matter what your stall speed is, your gas miliage wont be effected in 3rd and 4th gear. get 3000stall minimum or nothing at all.

as far as for the motor, the only thing you can get for $300 that will make a big difference is a used nitrous kit.
