port matching
does anyone know how to port match lower intake to the heads and be accurate. i'm 99% sure mylower intake is not going to match my heads (RHS 180's) does anyone have a website or a write up for DIY port matching......or should i just take it to a shop?

I've never done it butI have done some research on the subject. Basically, you match the ports on both the intake and the head to the intake gasket that you will be using.

yup, line up your intake gasket to the head (where its going to sit on the motor, cause it will rest on head gasket tabs) and mark where you need to open it up. then you can lay the intake on the gasket which is still laid down on the head, and with a fine pint marker you can kinda trace around the edge of the intake on the gasket so that when you pull the gasket and intake off you will know exactly where the gasket needs to sit on the intake for it to be lined up properly. then trace out the ports, and hog out whatever you need to. the farther back you can go into the intake the smoother the transition will be and the better your job will turn out.
couple words of advice.
1. make sure you get the right intake gaskets, probably something like GT40/early 351w gaskets will have a large enough port opening - but asking RHS would be best im sure they can give you a part number.
2. when porting, dont just do one at a time. you'll never keep them the same. instead, do each step of the process to all 8 ports, then go back and dot he next step to all 8 ports, etc, etc, etc.
