Default Might pickup some GT40 heads.

A cat in my area is selling a set for $200, and I might buy them. I have a few questions though--and forgive me for not searching, but I want to email the guy back ASAP.

1. To mill or not to mill?
2. If I don't mill, what kind of power increase might I get with a GT40 intake and headers (at the very least)? What ifI do mill?
3. How much might it cost to have the heads freshened and milled to within respectible limits.
4. Oh, and will I need to upgrade my fuel system with these heads? Will I need a tune?

Thanks again, fellas.

most shops charge ~$45 per head for milling.

what I would do, If I were you... Buy the heads for $200, then sell them on ebay for $350 BIN.... they WILL sell.

then get a set of worked GT-40P heads from www.tristatecylinderhead.com for $600. Install some FRPP unequal shorties and youll be good to go

Thanks, Adder. Maybe I'll just go with the TriState heads...and forget the GT40s, if the they're not a worthwhile upgrade. If I went that route, what do you suggest in terms of an intake...on the cheap?

cheap cheap, gt-40 would work. If you wanna think slightly more long-term, you could do a typhoon, Edlebrock performer, trick flow street head, holley systemax2, edlebrock performer RPM2...

look on ebay for used intakes. Also, a new cam and timing chain wouldnt be a bad idea either.

Thank you, sir. I have to think on this a minute. I was only even considering the GT40s because they were cheap. Now I'm getting ahead of myself. So the slightly milled GT40s, an aftermarket intake and headers wouldn't be worth the effort in terms of performance gain?
