Default Rebuilding a T-5

Is there a rebuild kit with the option of a different gear set? I want to get either 3.55 or 3.73 gears but 90% of my driving is on the highway and was wondering if I could get a taller 5th gear to compensate for the rear end

AstroPerformance makes a kit but its so expensive you might as well get a new tranny.

**** astro....

and man im not sure... i dnt see why not, 5th is separate from all the other gears, it would just be a matter of having two diff gears back there(main and counter shafts)... regardless gears dont come in a rebuild kit... they are hard parts and need to be bought separatly.... check ddperformance and i guess astroperformance, i no astro sells individual gears, maybe they have a better 5th...

actually u have a really good idea, that im going to look into also now...

or get a viper spec t56... 6th gear is a .50

I beleive astro performance has an overdrive gear in .5. Should make cruising rpm a little lower.

With my 4.10's and 26in tire at 70mph I'm only at 2700rpm which I really don't think is bad.

^^ +1

i tack 3000 doing almost 85 on the freeway, and get 21mpg doing it

4.10's and a 5-speed

the best od 5-speed i've noticed was .62 i think and stock is .68 so i don't see too many r's dropping there

if .5 was available that'd be a nice drop, but would have you driving around town in 4th all the time cuz i think it'd bee too much drop for city driving

and Im doing 1800 at 70mph I would like to keep it that way since again I do 80-90% highway driving so its gonna add up QUICK and college isnt helping [:@]

I have no problem using 1-4th around town since the highest speed limit is 45-50

I got the T-5Z and it has .63 o.d. On my normal trips to N.J I got 20mpg, after going to the .63 and new fuel lines and tank i got 23mpg. Plus the 2.95 first is nice. I get about 5 mph more before shifting
