Crank but no Spark.

ok i thought it was only when i just got the car that this was gonna happen. Well when i picked up the car like 4 days ago or so it did not want to start. it was cranking but no spark. Now it has MSD 6a ign. box i think it is 6a. And it has a msd distributor. Now after trying everything like connecting neg. / pos. wires straight from the battery to the coil cuz it was getting good ground and power to the box but nothing coming out the ign box. last thing we tried was dissconnecting the battery for like 5mins and when i hooked it back up the car started and ran. so i drove it home and it even started back up the next day but just tried today and same thing crank but no start no spark. i did'nt have time to disconnect the battery and see if starts again. but i'm guessing it will and would like ya opinion on this matter.

Does this sound right?

When i put a test light on the wires that go to the coil. they seem to both be grounded.

I here the msd dizzy is a piece of junk, the factory dizzy is a much better unit.

I forgot to ask, have you taken the ignition module out and tested it, I think autozone or advanced can do it for you.

No i haven't will try that today i guess. That is in the distributor right?

I'm trying to find a used 85 factory dizzy as we speak but not having good luck. U think it would be easy to revert back to the factory dizzy? I mean wiring wise.

I'm new to mustangs and V8's in general. i grew up wrenching sport compacts.

hey I have a factory dizzy for a 85 mustang it's actually out of an 83 gt but it's the same as a 85. the only this you may have to do is change the dizzy gear on the end if you have a roller cam. which I think I may even have one too. if interested....PM me
