Default 88 t-bird 5 speed into a 92 mustang???

i am looking at makin my 92 5.0 aode into a 5 speed and someone i know is sellin a 88 t-bird with a 5.0 & 5 speed is there any problems i would have taking the tranny and putting it in my stang? would the shifter line up? what about nss & reverse light? any help would be appreciated as if i get it i will have to buy it soon, aslo fyi the t-bird is only $400

ok i just found out the transmission is out of an 86 mustang will it fit up to everything in my 92 mustang?

yes everything will work... just get a set of clutch pedals clutch cable and a cross member for a t-5 5.0 the aod cross member if you break the welds and reposition it will work... I did that to mine but it's just easier to buy a new one and get a clutch kit and flywheel and away you go......oh you'll also need to rewire the nuetral saftey switch so you can have back up lights and so it'll start (I just joined the two wires for the nuetral saftey switch together because I didn't want to run the wires up to the clutch switch........you'll also need a ecm for a 5 speed car

look inside your pass. side door jamto see what ecm you have, its probaby an A9P
but i've seen aod cars w/ anA9L ecm from the factory, maybe you'll get lucky

what does the a9p & a9l mean i looked inside my pass. door on my mustang and there isnt a tag there but on driver door there is but no a9p or a9l on there, i heard you dont need to change the ecu on a aod to 5 speed swap

on the passanger side kick panel is your ecm there will be a sticker on it that has that code at least one or the other.

from what I understand you have to swap ecu's in the conversion

i had a 89 gt with the turbo coupe tranny she was ran good. It can't handle any upgrades though

i think it might be an 86 mustang tranny i have some upgrades but i am gonna try and have the local speed shop beef it up some. i wonder if the pedals in the t-bird will work for the conversion
