Suspension time, need a expert.
Alright its coming about to\ime for me to RIP out all of my old suspension and start the rebuild, car in question is a 1985 GT. I have a freshly rebuilt ford 8.8 inch rear end, 3.73's, moser 31 spline, eaton locker iam needing to put into it. along with this iam wanting to replace my up/lw rear control arms, u-joints, front/rear shocks, Springs ( going with a duel rate spring that gets stiffer the more you compress it, and it lowers the car 1.8" front, 1.5" rear.) struts, and tie rod ends. Now first of all, am i forgetting about anything else? please keep in mind that i dont think anything on this car has been gone through since it came off the factory floor, so if anyone can think of anything worth upgrading/replacing while iam in there please chime in.
now for the questions, 1. What exactly are the quad shocks in the rear? are they the horizontal shocks, the verticle shocks, or both? because i plan on removing them once i get the up/lw arms in. 2. Should i use oem shocks/struts? or is there something out there that would work better then stock parts with the car being droped 1.8 fron 1.5 back?
3. what else beside tie rod ends can i do to "lock in" my steering more? The box has no play in it, either does the rod to the wheel.
4. Are the oem tie rods good, or once again should i look elsewhere?
5. Any tear down and build up tips to make it just that much easier?
6. If there is a relativly easy way to convert the fron and back to coilovers, should i just bite the bullet and convert?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!!!!

RE: Suspension time, need a expert.
any answers about my quad shocks? whats the difference between a strut/spring and a coilover? seems like the same thing to me. And are there any opinions about oem shocks/struts vs aftermarket?

RE: Suspension time, need a expert.
Get some adjustable shocks and struts if you really want to spend the money and if your building adrivetrain to need it. You wont need any quad shocks if you upgrade the rear suspension to coil over.

quads are the horizontal ones ditch them.... get strange struts/shocks, and coilovers up front... it seems likeur more into handling then dragracing.. so depending on how much adjustablilty and tuning u want, get strange struts/shocks or just new ones(dunno wut brand sry)
stock up front is like a big triangle... a arm, hooked to the car... a arm is then hooked to the strut, then back to the car... and the spring sits separate from the strut btwn teh car and a arm... just go look at it ull understand. coil overs move the spring to the strut... and youll need cc plates...
