Default RE: Clutch adjustment

Ok, next time I am at the car, I will take a look at it. Thanks for the help. The clutch and pressure plate was not very old and had no indication that there was any problems prior. Just went to put it in nuetral at a stop light and it would not shift. back into gear.

I bet your clutch is fine, but that your cable quadrant has gone out on you. Sometimes the teeth on the auto adjusting mechanism wear out so that proper adjustment is impossible. That's when you tear out the old quadrant, and put in an aluminum one. First, try just lifting the clutch pedal upward with firm pressure. Then push the pedal to the floor. Sometimes this will force the quadrant system to reel in a little of the cable slack. If this doesn't work, you can stick your head where your feet should normally be, and your feet where your head should normally be, and study the action of the adjusting mechanism. Figure out how to manually adjust the cable one click tighter...or read one of the varioushow-to's on the internet for adjusting the quadrant by hand. This will only be a temporary fix, as the quadrant is probably badly worn...plastic as it is.

Well, not sure where to go from here. I adjusted the cable last night and it worked while I backed out of the garage. The more I drove it the worse it got. I adjusted it again, and the same thing happened. Each time, I only drove it no more than 2 blocks. What is going on?????
