Exhaust Recommendations

RE: Exhaust Recommendations
Well, thanks guys for your replies. Unfortunately, I would actually like to put on cats (thus the need for some high-air flow). I currently live in florida, where they don't have emissions checks, however, I dont plan to stay here much longer and am probably going to have to go through emissions checks when I move off. I don't want to have to spend the time adding the cats in just for the emissions check. On top of that, I don't want to have to store the stupid things. I have been told that flowmaster makes some pretty good headers and am looking into that. I think I am going to stick with the H pipes, as I like the sound they give off. I was really hoping that someone had a complete set they sell, with headers, cat, the whole thing. Anyway, thanks for all the replies guys.

RE: Exhaust Recommendations
I don't know about you, but my headers bolted on in like 30 minutes, and it was no thang, if you want to do all the work for 10? HP go ahead, but there was a noticable power difference when I bolted on my uneq BBK's

What do you guys think of the MAC Pro Chamber? Are they worth the extra money? Does it really help at all? It looks like a good idea, in theory. Wondering how it pans out in practicality though. THanks.

RE: Exhaust Recommendations
Funny how guys are raving about eq length headers, but reccomend flowmasters, which are pure junk when it comes to making power. uneq length headers on larger displacement V8's give almost identical power numbers to eq length headers according to dyno numbers I have seen in books written by accreditted engine builders. Exhaust systems like flowmasters, on the other hand, greatly reduce flow, and are barely better then stock. This is because of the design of the muffler. A performance muffler should be a straight through design with fiberglass baffling. If you can get a cfm rating on the muffler, the recommendation is 2 cfm/1 hp you are planning on making.
But, if you're like most people (including me atm) you're probably not going over 300 hp, so uneq length headers, a high flow cat, and a cheap set of flows will be easiest to deal with, and there will be no noticeable power difference.

RE: Exhaust Recommendations
From the stuff I have been reading (since I am about to do the same thing), I would recommend the MAC stuff, as they seem to have it all. Sort of a one stop shop. Although, I am still waiting to see if anyone has any comments on the prochamber and if it is better than the standard H pipe. So, anyone out there wanna say something about the Pro Chambers????
