cfi is not carbed fuel injection, it means central fuel injection which is basically tbi, I quess. It is a throttle body w/ 2 injectors mounted vertically in the throttle body, it is then mounted on a 2 barrel manifold

ORIGINAL: vfast

carb fuel injection? please thier is no such thing there is carb fuel injection and a cross of the 2, TBI= throttle body injection

so Vfast there is and isnt carb fuel injection, lol

On to my last question would placing a fuel regulator between the fuel pumps burn the pumps out. I just found out that the CFI (central fuel injection) regulates the fuel pressure to 39 psi, im thinking a problem will occur if i place a regulator in place

i know people who have used the stock (in tank) electric pump and just used a regulator. You may consider pulling the stock fuel pump out of the tank and using a small auxillary electric pump. you can get these from your local parts store for like $30. If the in tank pump goes bad, you will have to do this anyway if the stock pump goes bad and thats only a matter of time if its been pumping fuel since 85. I say definetley go carb., just tune it right and it will be fine. Good Luck

you would need a regulator with a larger recirculation bypass in it than what is on the stock one in order to drop the pressure low enough to feed a carb. you could try installing a tee in the line from the pump and put a needle valve one the branch line from the tee back to the tank so you could manually control a recirculation flow from the pump which would drop the pressure down before it ever got to the regulator and then maybe the regulator could be adjusted down low enough to feed a carb line regulator set to maybe 7 psi. problem with this approach is the fuel line size might not be large enough to flow the volume of fuel needed at the lower pressure and you could run too lean at WOT.
best solution is probably to get a fuel pump made for carbs and re-plumb the whole fuel system including the supply line to the pump which should be a gravity flow to the pump inlet.
