Default NEED some help deciding!

I know i brought this up few months back, but i need some help deciding to go efi or carb from the crappy cfi. going carb would be easier and cheaper, but what should i do for the fuel system and is the AOD controlled by the EEC and would there be any problems removing the eec. A tech guy from summit told me to slap on a fuel regulator to solve the fuel problem, but im sure there is more to that. Anyone who has done this can u please post your experinces w/ doing this. also what is the cheapest way of doing this.Should i go EFI? i am really confused on what to do. PLease help. Seems simple but to simple[&:]. sry for such a long post

you would need a alot of fitting along with a new fuel pump, and also, the AOD is controlled by the ECU

efi has its advantages which are mainly gas milage but it will cost you and with th 5.0 there are a lot of problems with keeping the idle under control, the carb is going to be the cheapest and easiest route for you to go so i would say go with that. however my car came with efi and i love it i wouldnt trade it for carb ever but if i had to convert from carb to efi i wouldn't bother, unless i had plenty of money and even more time to get it right with all the wires and sensors and parts involved plus the eec-iv, then probably needing the computer uograded to suite the upgrades.

avg price for converting to efi? if converting to carb would removing one of the fuel pumps (maybe frame rail pump) and adding a regulator solve the fuel dilema, get a 3 port and run a return line? also would leaving eec in place could that still control AOD properly.

don't think the AOD trans is controlled by the ECU, that only started with the AODE trans. earlier model AOD uses a TV cable and linkage to control the internal trans pressure which controls when it shifts. you can't beat the reliablitiy and mileage and power of the EFI setup but it will take some time and money to convert over to it. you will need the entire EFT computer wiring harness along with the ECU and the various sensors and solenoids associated with the system in order to install it and make it work properly. you might be able to find a donor car at the junkyard or try www.stangparts.com for used parts to make the swap.

thanx roundman, i think i am goin to go carb, probably edelbrock performer intake w/ a holley street avenger carb or street demon carb. et the One more question does anyone know if putting pressure regulator would work to get the psi down betwen 4-8psi from 30 somthin or would i risk screwing up a pump.

i dont believe the fuel pressure is any where near that high on carb fuel injected has much more pressure in the system like 30-40.
