no you should only adjust tps with key on engine off, and it comes last after idle is set, as the idle is changed the position of the sensor stays the same therefor changeing it from th .98 to more or less the trick is to lossen the screws and twist it ubtil it's back into the desirable range.

88gt40, why dont you read the whole post[:@]... everyone said that it should be done with key on, engine off..... i only said to move it with the engine on, to prove that it has an effect on idle... but either way.... key on, engine off... then probe wires @ .98.....

well i just didn't want the person asking the question to attempt to do it the wrong way, i think you could damage the sensor by moving it with the engine running, and at the very least you would have to redo it oall over again just for ****s and giggles...lol I just know when i first tried to do it i was very confused on how to do with out the extra ideas being posted

ok here ya go: first of all take a volt meter and attach the red lead to the green wire coming out of the tps, then the black lead to any ground. youll have to pierce thrue the green cotaing on the wire to make it touch, then loosen the two screws and move the tps with the key on, engine off, until it reads .98-.99 volts, then tighten the screws, then check it again to make sure it didnt move when you tightened it, done
do that, nothing more

i think your a bit confused... and no way in hell you could damage the sensor doing that, no damage could come of it at all, and just forget i ever mentiond it....

Tim, you may also find it necessary to enlarge the holes in the TPS to get it set just right. When i checked mine, it was at 1.08!!!![&:] I took it down to .95 and the difference is night and day. I did have to enlarge the holes so I could get it in the right area.
