Default starving for fuel?

hey guys, my names joe. i just picked up a 90 gt 5.0 5spd. it has a 95 cobra motor in it. the guy who had i bought it from, changed the intake to a trick flow street heat. it has a 70mm throttle body, gt40 heads, f303 cam, 24lb injectors, long tubes, off road h, into flowmasters. has a world class t5 trans, and i think either 3.08's or 3.27's. with the mods that are done to it, i would expect it to be able to throw you back a lil bit, but it feels dead. my buddy has an 88 gt, and his is quicker than mine. we've been trying for days to figure out what could be the problem. we thought maybe it was the timing first, but then we got to thinking it may be starvin for fuel. i dont know if the guy upgraded the fuel pump or the pressure regulator. any thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

If he had any power adders at all, the timing could be off. Also, what is the fuel pressure?

no on the timing. we tried to do it but the nut on the distributor is not comin off. im bringin it to a shop to see if they can do it. we took a timing light to it, and it varies. when it idles the marks move and dont quite line up, then when u give it gas a lil, they get closer together. and i have not yet checked the fuel pressure.

the car is a TURD

I am the guy with the 88 who drove it. I checked the regulator and it is stock. the car runs strong but its as fast as a stock 5.0, when i hooked a timing light to it at idle it wasnt on the mark due to the lope i assume. when i reved it and held the rpm's at around 2500 it was on the mark. I'm goin with fuel as the issue here...

You still have stock gears in there too.
If your buddy is running 3.73 gears you would feel a world of
difference off the line.

That's because you didn't remove the spout connector when you checked the idle.

As far as feeling slow. How dies ti idle and accelerate? Is it smooth or is it choppy and sporatic? You may just have show crappy gears in there and it's not feeling like you think it should. I doubt that you're starved for fuel. The injectors are large enough and the stock pump can handle it. The only way I see you having fuel problems is if you had a faulty regulator, pump, or injectors. That seems unlikely given your lack of other symptoms.

I feel that it's just the gears and you're not used to it.
